A unique garden in France !  Discover the prehistoric period and the animated dinosaurs dotted around the Jurassic garden, the most spectacular garden in Tropical Parc...

A unique park in France !

Created in 2010, it took tons of earth to build the canyons and waterfalls in this dinosaur garden.

A huge amount of work to recreate the environment of these prehistoric giants who lived on earth 248 million years ago.

Tropical park is one of the only parks in Europe to exhibit both the plant and animal world.

The prehistoric plant and animal world recreated

The Jurassic garden is a conservatory of endangered species of plants eaten by dinosaurs in the Jurassic period : tree ferns from Australia (over 3 metres tall), wollemia, a magnificent Macrozamias, Ginkgo, giant cycas, Araucaria, toothed lancewood...

Details of the wollemia
the oldest and rarest tree in the world :

A hundred trees have been entrusted to Tropical Parc, by the Australian waters and forests, for educational purposes and to acclimatize and protect these living fossils.

The Wollemi pine is one of the oldest and rarest plants in the world, with a history dating back to the age of the dinosaurs. It is believed to have reached its maximum extent of propagation between the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, between 200 and 65 million years ago. Often referred to as a "living fossil", it was rediscovered in 1994 in a remote canyon in Wollemi National Park, Australia. Recognizable by its chocolate-brown bark and spiral leaves, the Wollemi pine can reach up to 40 meters in height. Fewer than 100 specimens still survive in the wild, protected in the greatest secrecy.

In Saint-Jacut-les-Pins, Tropical Parc offers an exceptional immersion into the tropical and prehistoric world, with themed greenhouses, animated dinosaurs, fossils, and... 64 Wollemi pines! These rare specimens demonstrate the park's commitment to preserving exceptional species. Tropical Parc is one of the few places in France where such a large number of these trees can be observed, living witnesses of the Cretaceous period.

Until recently, Wollemi pine reproduction relied exclusively on clonal propagation, an effective method but one that lacked any genetic diversity. Since their arrival at Tropical Parc, these specimens have been cherished in a suitable environment: well-drained soil, filtered light, and protection from frost. This attention has paid off—literally. The trees produced male and female cones simultaneously, an essential condition for sexual reproduction. This is a first in France for this type of tree outside its natural Australian habitat.

Articulated, roaring dinosaurs

Discover our most terrifying residents in Tropical Parc : over a dozen life-like articulated dinosaurs in a huge, natural decor.

These open-mouthed monsters move their heads and tails, lift their paws and make deep roaring sounds.  The illusion is perfect.  Time to run for your life !

For dinosaur enthusiasts, here are the dinosaurs you will find in the park : Tyrannosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Pterosaur, Tochisaurus, Brachiosaurus, Stegosaurus, Oviraptor, Ankylosaurus, Spinosaurus, Barayonyx, Dilaphosaurus, Allosaurus, Velocisaurus, Baby Triceratops, Parasaurolophus, Ornitholestes...

Wood fossils 200 million years old

The numerous fossil woods and tree trunks (10 tons of fossil woods petrified from Indonesia), an amazing wonder of nature several million years old, will fascinate both the young and old.

Not to be missed : 50 fern tree trunks dating back to the Prehistoric period.  They measure between 1.5 and 4 m tall and acclimatize well to the Breton climate.   The only one of its kind in France.

What is fossil wood?

The fossil woods displayed at Tropical Parc come from Indonesia, Java and Sumatra.  Two million years ago, the trees were petrified to stone.  The rivers transported the stones and the fossil woods reappeared on the riverbanks.  This fossil wood is collected by Indonesian farmers in the fields after the rain or on the riverbanks.
