The African garden

Head for Africa !  What is more surprising than discovering bunches of bananas or pineapples in season (June-July to be consumed in August) in the heart of Brittany ?

Added to the decor, a few statues of monkeys, colourful bougainvillia and grey parrots from Gabon, who, in semi captivity, chatter to the visitors.

Look up and admire the tree tops. You will be impressed by the sheer height of the banana trees standing 4 to 7 metres tall.

This is an outstanding exotic garden with a subtle mixture of smells and flavours where pineapples, cane sugar, coffee trees, mandarines and even kumquats are grown.

The bougainvillea and other tropical plants in the garden have acclimatised very well to the Breton summer climate.

New 2014 : La Brousse school

A school devoted to learning about fruit and vegetables, extracts from trees in tropical forests like cocoa, cotton, vanilla, coconut milk, latex, coffee, tea, pepper, sugar cane, rice, tomato plants, spices, cinnamon...

An educational project adapted for schools !

La Brousse school has been built like an old African school with wooden benches, old blackboards and the playground surrounded by the jungle !

Not to be missed: an exhibition of fruit and tropical plants used in everyday life.

La Brousse school is open for groups during the week.
